In anticipation of the joy of the risen Lord, the Congregations of Sons and Daughters of Mary Mother of Mercy through her agency Justice and Peace Initiative of Religious in Nigeria (JPIRN) led by her Directors: Rev. Fr. PiusRalph Effiong, SMMM and Rev. Sr. (Barr.) Patricia Chikezie, DMMM in company of some of the volunteers of the agency paid a Pre-Easter charity visit to the inmates of Medium Security Custodial Centre, Umuahia on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.
The occasion began with the celebration of the Mass with the Superior General, Very Rev. Fr. Christian Okwuru, SMMM as the presiding celebrant with other concelebrants.
The homilist, Fr. Gerald Obi, SMMM reflecting on the first reading admonished the students to imitate the virtue of forgiveness exhibited by the martyr Stephen as well as shun bearing of false witness.
Tuesday the 13th day of February 2024 witnessed the celebration of the above occasion which began with the Holy Mass. The Mass was presided by His Lordship, Most Rev. Dr. Michael Ukpong, Catholic Bishop of Umuahia Diocese and flanked by the Superior General, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Christian Okwuru, SMMM and Fr. Dr. Aloysius Nwabekee and concelebrated by a host of priests.
It was indeed an auspicious day for the entire members of the Sons of Mary Mother of Mercy Congregation as three of her members , Rev Frs. Paschal Nwoko, SMMM, Cyprian Ihedoro, SMMM and Uche Godwin Iheke, SMMM celebrated their Jubilee on the 11th day of January 2024.
