A CONCISE HISTORY OF HOLY FAMILY SECONDARY SCHOOL, MGBOKO UMUORIA.
This family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph is located along New Umuahia road precisely at Mgboko Oriefula Autonomous Community in Obingwa L. G. A. Aba, Abia State. It was established on the 24th day of September, 2004, by the Congregation of Sons of Mary Mother of Mercy, under the tutelage of the then Superior General -Very Rev Fr. Dr. James Michael Okpalaonwuka, SMMM.
At its inception, the school recorded about 50 male and female students. As at the moment we can boast of about 560 regular students. Admission into the school is strictly by written exams in English, Mathematics and General papers, to be duly authenticated with an oral interview by the principal.
We have about 3 school uniforms: Pink shirt (check) together with a navy blue short or trouser depending on your class. The same colours with different materials and designs for games, and our maiden inter house wears depending on one's house.
Our record of academic excellence echoes everywhere. We are also champions in sports and other competitive areas. We have 4 standard academic blocks including external examination halls. We equally have equipped laboratories for practicals especially in science subjects.
List of principals and time of service:
Rev Fr Henry Aguwa (2004-2005)The school operates a scholarship scheme whereby 5 persons from the donor of a portion of the school land by name - Late Sir Oliver Uche are given scholarship. It runs for a period of 6 years successively and concomitantly. Last but not the least, may we note spectacularly that we now have nursery and primary sections. It was established on September, 2017. An academic block for that purpose is ongoing. After the whole process of approval, the school may metamorphose with the name - Holy Family Nursery /Primary and Secondary school.
