SILVER JUBILEE CELEBRATION – CANADIAN REGION

The Canadian Region of the Sons of Mary, Mother of Mercy (SMMM) rejoiced in their Silver Jubilee, marking 25 years of presence in Canada. The celebration commenced with a Holy Mass, presided over by Superior General, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Christian Okwuru, SMMM.

The Canadian Region of the Sons of Mary, Mother of Mercy (SMMM) rejoiced in their Silver Jubilee, marking 25 years of presence in Canada. The celebration commenced with a Holy Mass, presided over by Superior General, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Christian Okwuru, SMMM.

Rev. Fr. Dr. Cyprian Ihedoro, SMMM, delivered a heartfelt homily, reflecting on the Congregation’s history in Canada. He emphasized the humble beginnings, likening it to a mustard seed, which has now grown to serve 16 dioceses – with Frs. Eugene Eburuche, SMMM and Uche Iheke, SMMM as foundation members.

The Regional Superior, Rev. Fr. Sylvanus Omali, SMMM, welcomed attendees, attributing the celebration to God’s grace. He expressed gratitude to the Canadian people and the host parish, led by Fr. Augustine Obago, SMMM.

The event concluded with a blessing, group photographs, and a vibrant cultural display, featuring Abigbo Mbaise dance and refreshments. The Superior General led the closing prayer.

This momentous occasion was filled with joy, warmth, and camaraderie among brothers and parishioners.
