In his homily, the bishop emphasized the significance of the diaconate, highlighting the roles of deacons as ministers of baptism, visiting the sick, teaching Catechism and assisting bishops and priests. He stressed that deacons are called to serve with humility, integrity and respect for the orderliness in the Holy Orders.

We thank God for the gift of our brothers and we continue to pray for God’s sufficient grace upon them to carry out their duties faithfully and conscientiously.

The celebration continued with group photographs, merriment and dancing.

As Pope Benedict XVI reminds us, “The diaconate is a sacrament of service, a call to serve the poor, the sick, and the marginalized. May our new deacons be instruments of God’s mercy and love.”
