SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF MARY MOTHER OF MERCY CONGREGATIONS VISIT INMATES OF MEDIUM SECURITY CUSTODIAL CENTRE, UMUAHIA

In anticipation of the joy of the risen Lord, the Congregations of Sons and Daughters of Mary Mother of Mercy through her agency Justice and Peace Initiative of Religious in Nigeria (JPIRN) led by her Directors: Rev. Fr. PiusRalph Effiong, SMMM and Rev. Sr. (Barr.) Patricia Chikezie, DMMM in company of some of the volunteers of the agency paid a Pre-Easter charity visit to the inmates of Medium Security Custodial Centre, Umuahia on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.

In anticipation of the joy of the risen Lord, the Congregations of Sons and Daughters of Mary Mother of Mercy through her agency Justice and Peace Initiative of Religious in Nigeria (JPIRN) led by her Directors: Rev. Fr. PiusRalph Effiong, SMMM and Rev. Sr. (Barr.) Patricia Chikezie, DMMM in company of some of the volunteers of the agency paid a Pre-Easter charity visit to the inmates of Medium Security Custodial Centre, Umuahia on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.

In the course of the visit, they were received by ACC Chibueze Ehighibe alongside the chaplain of the facility DSC Clara Nwakaego. In his welcoming speech, ACC Ehighibe expressed utmost joy over the kind gesture shown to the inmates despite the challenging economic condition in the country and further solicit for collaboration with the group in dispensing justice for the inmates.

The Director of the JPIRN Sons of Mary Mother of Mercy Congregation, Rev. Fr. PiusRalph Effiong, SMMM who led the team, in his address reiterated the commitment of the body to partner with the Nigeria Correctional Service in discharging her duties. He further, admonished the inmates to be of good conduct while trusting God who is ever merciful and assured them of their continuous prayers.

In addition to this, Rev. Sr. (Barr.) Patricia Chikezie, DMMM who is also a Director of the agency in their Congregation reminded the inmates of the need to be law abiding within and beyond the four walls of the facility, while promising to assist in providing legal support to those in need of such service.

In response, an anonymous who spoke on behalf of the inmates in the facility appreciated the effort of the body and prayerfully wished them journey mercies.

The visit ended with benediction by Rev. Fr. PiusRalph Effiong, SMMM.
