THE GOLDEN AND SILVER ANNIVERSARIES

It was indeed an auspicious day for the entire members of the Sons of Mary Mother of Mercy Congregation as three of her members , Rev Frs. Paschal Nwoko, SMMM, Cyprian Ihedoro, SMMM and Uche Godwin Iheke, SMMM celebrated their Jubilee on the 11th day of January 2024.

It was indeed an auspicious day for the entire members of the Sons of Mary Mother of Mercy Congregation as three of her members , Rev Frs. Paschal Nwoko, SMMM, Cyprian Ihedoro, SMMM and Uche Godwin Iheke, SMMM celebrated their Jubilee on the 11th day of January 2024.

While Fr. Paschal celebrated the golden jubilee of his first religious profession, Frs. Cyprain and Uche celebrated the Silver jubilees of their priestly ordination.

The event started with the Holy Mass at about 10:00am, presided over by the Superior General, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Christian Okwuru, SMMM.

The homilist in the person of Rev. Fr. Adolphus Ireogbu, SMMM took time to beautifully exhort all to be steadfast in doing the work of God. As true disciples, we are called to strive through thick and thin to follow Christ daily and be able to lead them to Christ not just by our words but principally through our actions. Drawing edges from the Biblical injunction of Matt. 5:16 “your light shine before men that they may see your good works and praise your Father in heaven”, the homilist thanked the jubilarians for allowing the candles of their lives to burn this far for the illumination of many lives.
The Mass came to an end at about 12:30pm.

The second part of the event was reception of the Jubilarians by the Ogene Group led by the Novices. The Superior General said the opening prayer. In his opening remarks, he welcomed and thanked all for coming.

Other activities followed suits and speedily. At the end of the event while rendering the vote of thanks, Rev. Fr. Leonard Jioke, SMMM one of the councilors, thanked God Almighty immensely for the gift of our Jubilarians and all for coming out to celebrate with them.
Special note to mention in attendance were the Bishop of Umuahia diocese Most Rev. Dr. Michael Ukpong, priests and religious, Eze Ukaegbu and his Lolo, dignitaries and guests of honor, also the families of the Jubilarians, members of the Sons Theologate and the Novices; the choir members from Obowo parish who sang wonderfully well.

The event came to an end at about 02:10pm with the closing prayer and final blessing said by the Bishop.
